Association for Los Angeles Deputy Sheriffs Endorses Runner for BOE
Posted on May 14th, 2010 3 commentsSacramento – Taxpayer Advocate/Senator George Runner (R-Antelope Valley) has received the endorsement of the Association for Los Angeles Deputy Sheriffs (ALADS). Runner is seeking election to the California Board of Equalization.
“The fine men and women in uniform make up our first line of defense in combating the criminal mentality from the ground up,” said Runner. “I am grateful for ALADS endorsement and confidence in my ability to be an effective taxpayer advocate on the BOE.”
The Association for Los Angeles Deputy Sheriffs represents more than 7,000 deputy sheriffs including men and women who work the streets, jails, courts and many other positions that make up the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. ALADS publishes The Dispatcher magazine, a vital resource that has been used to help raise the consciousness of the community by taking gang activity out of isolation.
Runner has the highly coveted endorsement of the prominent Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association. This endorsement, combined with an advantage in fundraising, a large base of support in the most highly populated part of the district, and an aggressive slate mail program and an aggressive voter contact campaign, makes Runner the favorite in the June Republican primary.
Senator Runner is running for BOE District 2, the largest of four districts that comprise California’s statewide tax board. The district encompasses all or portions of 34 counties that span from the California-Oregon border to San Bernardino County.

“It’s an honor to have the endorsement and faith of Supervisors DeMartini and Murrison,” Runner said. “I look forward to working with them – and other community leaders – to solve economic problems and lessen the tax burdens faced by small businesses.”

Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer Supports George Runner for BOE

“I am honored to have the endorsement of Jerry Dyer, long-time Fresno Police Chief and an incredibly dedicated public safety official,” said Runner. “Jerry knows the hardships that have been created for police departments as a result of the state’s raiding of local funds. I am grateful for his support in my attempt to serve as taxpayer advocate for public safety departments throughout the district.”

Former U.S. Attorney McGregor Scott Endorses George Runner for Board of Equalization
Posted on March 18th, 2010 No commentsSacramento – Taxpayer Advocate and Senator George Runner (R-Antelope Valley) has received the endorsement of former U.S. Attorney McGregor Scott. Runner is seeking election to the California Board of Equalization.
Runner expressed gratitude for Scott’s endorsement, saying, “It’s an honor to have the endorsement of McGregor Scott, a revered member of our legal system. I am grateful to have his support in my effort to advocate for relief of California’s overburdened taxpayers as a Board of Equalization member.”
As U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of California from 2003 to 2009, Scott ran an office of approximately 75 lawyers who represented the government in both criminal and civil matters in the federal courts in Sacramento and Fresno. Scott’s office prosecuted a number of high-profile cases including the “Lodi terror case” that resulted in a guilty verdict for material support to terrorists. From 1997 to 2003, Scott served as District Attorney of Shasta County, where he was elected twice. Scott left the U.S. Attorney post in 2003 to join Orrick law firm in Sacramento, where he is currently a member of the Litigation Group.

Governor Pete Wilson and Republican Gubernatorial Nominee Bill Simon Endorse George Runner for BOE

“Governor Wilson represents the hard work and fiscal discipline that we desperately need in California,” said Runner. “Bill Simon is a strict conservative Republican who advocates for limited government and free market enterprise.”
“These men are both great champions of Republican principles and I am grateful for their confidence in my ability to bring California taxpayers the economic relief they are aching for.”
Earning the support of both Governor Wilson and Bill Simon shows that Runner has gained the confidence of Republican leaders across the state in the race for BOE.
When entering office, Wilson inherited California’s worst economy since the Great Depression. Insisting on strict budget discipline, Wilson revived the state’s business environment and left office with a $16 billion budget surplus. Also heralded for his tough stance on crime, Wilson signed California’s “Three Strikes” into law during his tenure.
Businessman Bill Simon is a well-known conservative Republican and served as Director of Policy for the Rudy Giuliani presidential exploratory committee in 2007. In 2004, Simon ran unsuccessfully against Gray Davis, losing the election by less than 5 percentage points. Davis was recalled two years later and replaced by the electorate with Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.

George Runner Wins Endorsement from California Republican Assembly for Board of Equalization

George Runner (R-Antelope Valley) today announced that the conservative organization nominated him as its candidate for the Board of Equalization, district 2, beating out opponents Alan Nakanishi and Barbara Alby — both former legislators from Northern California.
“I am honored to have earned the support and confidence of the distinguished delegates of the California Republican Assembly,” Runner said. “I share with CRA an unwavering dedication to conservative values, which includes protecting taxpayers, supporting free enterprise and limiting government’s involvement in our lives.”
The CRA endorsement follows on the heels of Runner receiving the coveted endorsement of the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association last month. Runner also earned the endorsement of former CRA presidents Mike Spence and Steve Frank, in addition to numerous local, state and national leaders who represent communities throughout the BOE 2nd District, which spans 34 counties from San Bernardino to Siskiyou.
