Antelope Valley ‘tea party’ tax protest is a success
Posted on April 12th, 2009 10 commentsOn Saturday, it was my pleasure to participate in a tax protest rally in the Antelope Valley. At least 500 people attended the spirited event, carrying signs with clever slogans such as: “Born Free, Taxed to Death.”
Along with several of my colleagues, I spoke out against Prop 1A, the measure that will extend the recent $16 billion annual tax increases by two years. It is exactly these types of public protests that will lead to the failure of Prop. 1A in May and bring more awareness to the onerous tax-and-spend mentality that prevails in Sacramento.
As I stated at the rally, Taxation is an attack on freedom; you have fewer choices in life when you have less money.
Read more about the rally here.
Rallies will be held throughout Californian on April 15, tax day. To find out about a rally near you, click here.

I’m not sure if Antelope Valley is planning a tea party for the 4th or not. If not, folks might consider making the drive to Tulare for the Freedom Rally Tea Party. We are going from Tehachapi & at least one person is going from Acton. The is a convoy planned from Bakersfield to Tulare with hundereds of decorated cars (Gadsden flags, etc.). Convoys will also travel from Fresno and Merced. The event is, of course, free and will be held indoors. At least 30,000 people are expected at this point. Free RV parking through July 7 is available. Politicians are welcome but not invited to speak. Info: centralvalleyteaparty.com

I don’t think the Tea Party is trying to form a 3rd party. They are running candidates within the confines of the 2 party system, and literally forcing the old-school party guys out of the way by dint of numbers. It’s exciting to see. Before the revolution is over we might just get a BALANCED BUDGET AMENDMENT, GOLD STANDARD FOR THE DOLLAR, AUDIT OF THE FED, and other good things to put our financial house back in order … hopefully before the financial house collapses.

The only thing that is growing is the deficit and the number of government workers. Obviously there are people in the government that are necessary for the proper functioning of society, however, I class the vast majority of them as “overhead”.

I was studying something else about this on another blog. Interesting. Your position on it is diametrically contradicted to what I read earlier. I am still pondering over the various points of view, but I’m tipped to a great extent toward yours. And irrespective, that’s what is so superb about advanced democracy and the marketplace of thoughts on-line.

It is useful to try everything in practice anyway and I like that here it’s always possible to find something new.

The Supreme Court successfuly upheld the 2nd admendment. The only thing concerning about this case was that it ended up with a 5-4 majority.

Thank god for the ruling on the ban on gay marriage in California. The federal government should have never interfered in California’s issues in the first place.
